Step 3 continued
Don't wait until your computer crashes before doing a registry cleanup. The
best free way to clean up your computer registry is to run a free registry scanner and cleaner like " Registry

4) Delete your Internet browser
history
Every time you browse or surf the Internet via your Internet browser like
Microsoft IE or Mozilla's Firefox your travel history is saved. Every website page with every image and
every bit of text is recorded and stored on your hard drive. It is kept in a temporary Internet files
folder refer to as your cache. This does speed up your Internet browsing of websites but only if you go
to that website often. If you only go to that website once it does nothing to help speed up your
browsing. In fact it just eats up hard drive disk storage. It also allows spyware and viruses to
make a home on your PC.
If you are unable to view this video, you will need to
download and install the latest Adobe Flash

5) Detect and repair disk
errors
As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors on its disk platters where
data and files are stored. When you have bad sectors or spots on your hard drive your PC will slow
down. It is normal for hard drives to develop bad sectors or spots after short or long periods of
usage. Don't buy a new hard drive. Just run the free Windows Check Disk program.
To Run the Error Checking utility
Close all open programs and files | Start | Run | and
type cmd in the Open line. Click OK
Than use one of the following procedures to complete
check disk:
| • |
To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, at the command prompt,
type chkdsk, and then press
ENTER. |
| • |
To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, at the
command prompt, type chkdsk volume:/f
, and then press ENTER.
Note If one or more
of the files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message:
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system
restarts? (Y/N)
Type Y , and then press ENTER to
schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.
